Riverside Smithfield Hospital Update
The new Riverside Smithfield Hospital is nearing halfway to completion! It was just a few months ago in the end of February when the construction site was just dirt and gravel, and now bricks are being added to the exterior of the hospital’s east wing. On June 13, Riverside will hold a beam signing ceremony where local elected and appointed officials, along with Riverside employees, will sign the final steel beam, which will then be placed by a crane.
In addition to the main 50-bed facility, there will be a single story, detached medical office building located adjacent to the hospital. This building will be the host of outpatient physical therapy and specialist services like gastroenterology, orthopedics, urology, and cardiology. This building will open before the hospital, in early 2025.
Riverside Smithfield Hospital President Jessica Macalino says they except to hire 150-200 employees for both clinical and non-clinical roles.
